I was four years old, in pre-school. We were having “Water Day”, which was this day full of water-based fun activities. Little kid, I had been looking forward to this for weeks. Seriously. I’m sure I’m not alone I’m saying: I don’t give a damn about someone’s “good character” after an offense like this. Throw the book at him, like he deserves, gives him the maximum penalty. This isn’t some trivial offense. But someone growing pot in his yard would get a much harsher sentence than this guy, who possessed such a disgustingly high amount of those abominable images, which, by definition, involve abuse. I got over most of the resentment about a decade ago. Every now and then, one relative or another will reach out and seem reasonable/normal, and I’ll get my hopes up. We might even meet up and have a good time once or twice. But inevitably, they’ll bring God into the equation. And I’m not a dick; if I’m out with religious friends or family and they want to do a quick and quiet pre-meal prayer, I don’t get snarky. They both had immense respect and love for each other. When she died he canceled his concert in honor of her and dedicated the next two upcoming concerts to her memory.
