Seriously. I’m sure I’m not alone I’m saying: I don’t give a damn about someone’s “good character” after an offense like this. Throw the book at him, like he deserves, gives him the maximum penalty. This isn’t some trivial offense. I got over most of the resentment about a decade ago. Every now and then, one relative or another will reach out and seem reasonable/normal, and I’ll get my hopes up. We might even meet up and have a good time once or twice. But inevitably, they’ll bring God into the equation. And I’m not a dick; if I’m out with religious friends or family and they want to do a quick and quiet pre-meal prayer, I don’t get snarky.
